Ally McCann is an Australian landscape and abstract artist known for richly textured paintings of vast, travel-inspired scenery: mountain ranges, coastlines and valleys rendered in a soft, earthy palette of sage, dusty pink and blues. Working in acrylic and mixed texture, her paintings are built up through layered, tactile brushwork that gives each piece a physical, sculptural quality up close.
Each painting begins with a specific place, a coastline walked, a mountain range passed through, a view returned to in memory, and is developed on the canvas until it becomes something quieter and more atmospheric. The result is landscape art that feels both grounded in a real location and softened into something more timeless.
Ally's work has been exhibited in galleries across Australia and internationally, and is held in private collections both locally and abroad. Alongside her studio practice, she works in Creative Direction within the retail industry, an influence reflected in her considered use of colour, composition and restraint.
